Getting School Experience
One of the best ways to find out whether a career in teaching is right for you is to step into the classroom and speak to experienced teachers and school staff. Southfields Academy offers school experience to those who are considering teaching in a mainstream secondary school. You can observe outstanding teachers in action and see how students work with their teachers.
The duration of school experience will vary from one to ten days, subject to availability.
To be eligible to visit us you need to hold a good Honours degree (2:2 or above) in a subject relevant to your chosen subject to teach. The exception is for Maths and Physics where relevant third class Honours degree may be considered.
School Experience Programme (SEP)
This is run by the National College for Teaching & Leadership (DfE) and is free to participants.
How to book for SEP
All observations for these subjects are processed via the DfE SEP booking system available by clicking here.
